The story of Lydie Marland. Lydie was the adopted daughter of E.W. Marland, oil tycoon, and lived with him and her aunt in Ponca City in 1916. Lydie lived a sheltered life, and at the age of 28, had the adoption annulled, and married E.W. At one time, E.W was considered one of the richest men in the world. But his company, Marland Oil, (now Conoco) was taken over by JP Morgan. After they lost their fortune, she became the First Lady of Oklahoma when E.W. was elected governor in 1932. When E.W. died, Lydie loaded up what little she had left and took off driving, not to return for over 20 years. Some say they saw her working as a maid in Missouri. Some reported her in bread lines of New York. She eventually returned to Ponca City, and lived in the cottage next to her one-time mansion.

Now, there is a play about her, that hundreds if not thousands will pay seventeen dollars to see. Seems a little ironic. Her life was an example of a valuable life lesson - to pick up the pieces and keep on going.

Remembering a Genius - Steve Jobs

I've decided to Post Thursday's Oct. 6th Post Early - Remembering a Genius - Steve Jobs

"Your time is limited so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.
Try our own experiment and let me know the results. Mentally tally up how many people interrupt you, or repeat the exact same thing you just said. Chances are, these people were NOT listening. You'd be surprised who you have become accustom to interrupting you...your mom, your boss, your husband, your children. Why is what you have to say not important enough for them to let you finish saying it?
I think these people should be stopped.
